“An Evening with the Dino’s ”

An event empowering

our female athletics from the University of Calgary

 Dinos Fastball Team

On behalf of the University of Calgary Dino’s Fastball Team I would like to invite you to “An Evening with the Dino’s”: an event empowering our female athletes . This private event will take place at the Crowfoot Wine & Spirits Events Centre (7414 Crowfoot Road NW) on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 7-10pm.

We will have Red Seal chef Don MacKinnon, head chef of Chop Steakhouse and bar on Macleod Trail catering the event, as well as a selection of wines and beers. There will also be a silent auction, and door prizes.

I hope that you will be able to attend this event; your support is greatly appreciated. We are a club team that isn’t funded by the University so your support will go towards offsetting individual player costs. Tickets for the event are $75 each. The event centre will hold 125 people and the tickets will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like to attend please RVSP by March 1, 2017.

 100 Inning Game Fundraiser

The University of Calgary Fastball Program is set-up to facilitate young women's ambitions to go to University and play competitive collegiate Fastball. The University of Calgary Dinos Fastball Club is one of the founding team members of the Alberta Intercollegiate Women’s Fastball Association (AIWFA). Now called the Western Collegiate Softball Association, the league has six teams consisting of the University of Calgary, SAIT Polytechnic, the University of Saskatchewan, Briercrest College, the University of Alberta and the University of Regina.

As we are a club team, we are required to raise funds for our travel and costs during the season. As we are not fully funded by the University, we rely on support from local businesses and donors in order to offset individual player costs. Due to the seasonal conditions in Western Canada, our season is completed during the months of September and October and we have indoor winter training throughout the winter months. This year, we play 5 weekends of tournament play within the league, finishing with playoffs, which will be played in Moose Jaw the weekend of October 2-5th.  As we were champions of the WCSA in 2014, we have qualified for National Championships this year which are held in Oshawa, Ontario.

The Fastball team asks you to help us with a pledge to our program. We will be playing a 100 inning Fastball game on Saturday October 24th, 2015. What I am asking of you is to pledge some money for each inning we play. You can easily donate online by filling out the Pledge Sheet and then email it to fastball@ucalgary.ca and then click on the " donate " button below. Alternatively you can download the Pledge Sheet which you can then  fill out and return with a cheque. Any amount of donation will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for any support you are able to provide.

 Proud To Be A Dino

Leadership, Teamwork, Academic & Athletic Success
The University of Calgary Dinos have a long and storied tradition of excellence and achievement in sport, the classroom, and community. Whether it’s the prestigious Rhodes Academic Scholarship, Olympic medals, or participating in the Calgary school children mentoring program, Dinos student-athletes have done it all.

The Dinos invite you to play a role in the tradition of excellence - join the Dino Annual Gifts program by “adopting” a student-athlete. The Proud to be a Dino program is more than a fundraiser, it is an opportunity for the community and corporate sector to support a specific team, while at the same time becoming involved with a student-athlete. The University of Calgary places a great deal of importance on the student-athletes’ whole university experience. Your contribution will allow our student-athletes to focus solely on maintaining their academic and athletic success.
